Benchmarks
Benchmarks provide structured criteria for evaluating a category. They are most useful when the criteria, source basis, and limitations are visible.
Purpose
A benchmark should help a buyer understand what evidence to request, what tradeoffs to compare, and what claims require verification.
Scoring
If scoring is used, the scoring model should be explained. Benchline Reports should not use hidden scoring to create a false sense of objectivity.
Updates
Benchmark pages should be dated and updated when new evidence changes the category context.
